Q. Which are the competencies developed by Virtual Academy?

A. Virtual Academy is a center of competencies at national and international level on Audio/Video Production and Computer Graphics. Virtual Academy aims at training professionals in 3D Computer Graphics, Compositing, Video post-production.

Q. Who are the teachers?

A. As the Virtual Reality Multi Media Park also is a center for production and applied research, most of the teachers are working in the establishment; others are external professionals. Teachers are listed in the course syllabus. Students refer to a coordinator, whose responsibility is to assist them in managing their coursework.

Q. How are courses structured? What is the method of study?

A. Courses have two objectives: complete training on production process and hands-on experience through ongoing exercises.
Therefore the courses are fit for:

individuals who, although they come from the production world, wish to complete their training;
individuals who have a theoretical knowledge and know what they are looking for, but have scarce technical knowledge
individuals who are interested in the topic, but have no knowledge about it.

Virtual Academy practices a selection of accesses with a view to form homogeneous classes.

Every course provides exercises to produce applications for the students’ portfolio.

Q. Which specialists are trained?

A. CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) professional profiles coming out of Virtual Academy are 3D Technician, 3D Modelers, Compositors, Visual and Special Effects Creators, Riggers, Renderers.

VFX and Motion Rraphics profiles are Compositor, Video Editor and VFX Supervisor.

Q. Which equipment is used?

A. Equipment is available in classrooms and dedicated laboratories, and it includes VRMMP professional equipment and technologies.

Q. What should I do to enroll?

A. Use the application for the selection, that can be downloaded from the site.
The selection of incoming candidates will be made on the basis of a motivational interview. After admission tests the ranking will be published and administrative fulfillments will be carried out: confirmation of enrollment and payment of the first installment of the master.

There is a selection of candidates in entry based on the motivations and guidance of the same.

Q. I wish to know course duration, fees and payment methods.

A. Information is published on the Guide of every Course.

Payment methods: two equal installments. The first installment should be paid before the course starts, the second one after about three months.

Q. What is the lesson timetable?

A. Teaching criteria differ from course to course. With a view to leaving students some free time (as laboratory exercises are very demanding) in general 3-4 days a week are required, with classes of about 5 hours, while some full immersion courses with professionals require 3 consecutive days of 7-8 hours each. The lessons are normally held during the day, from Monday to Friday (occasionally on Sunday). Virtual Academy is open from 8:30 to 19:00 from Monday to Friday. The calendar is available at the beginning of the courses.

Q. What are the requirements for the students enrolling in individual modules?

A. Enrollment in individual modules happens by filling in an application form to be required from the Didactic Coordinator or at virtualreality@vrmmp.it. Evidence should be given of competencies that are a prerequisite of the module.

Those who are enrolled in the individual modules will not be involved in the internship phase. The internship is the last activity scheduled for courses of one year at least.

Q. Are there any accommodation facilities?

A. No accommodation is provided. However, Virtual Academy secretary can give some reference points to help finding a flat. 50% of our students do not live in Piedmont, so it is possible to share an apartment with other students.
